'Unbelievable': Jurgen Klopp thinks Tottenham are trying to sign one of the most under-appreciated players around
Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for Leicester’s Harvey Barnes and the winger has the Jurgen Klopp seal of approval.
Leicester are thought to value Barnes at at least £60m, making any deal tough to do in January. However, we’ve seen before how things can change, and Spurs are set to be active in the market.
Indeed, should they sign Barnes, then they’re getting a player who has the seal of approval from a certain Jurgen Klopp.
Back in February 2021, Klopp singled out Barnes as being key for Leicester. And in his comments, he claimed the Foxes star is actually under-appreciated.
‘Barnes is probably one of the biggest talents, I’m not sure if he is respected or appreciated as much as he should be, he is an unbelievable player to be honest, a proper Leicester product,” Klopp said of the Leicester star.
Barnes has scored six goals this season. Along with James Maddison, he is considered one of the jewels in Leicester’s crown right now.
TBR’s View: Barnes could shine for any club
There is no doubting there is more to come from Harvey Barnes. He is a player who has a bit of everything in the locker and if he did move up the ladder a bit, he’d succeed.
Klopp’s comments on him are bang on as well. Barnes often slips under the radar a bit but on the whole, he produces the goods in terms of goals and assists.
Should Tottenham somehow manage to sign him, then it’s quite the statement signing. Certainly, he’d be a player most clubs in the top six would take.
