Journalist think Villa are more likely to sign Bissouma than Kalvin Phillips
Leeds United fans have received a further boost this weekend with journalist Pete O’Rourke telling Give Me Sport that Aston Villa are now more likely to be able to sign Yves Bissouma than Kalvin Phillips this summer.
With the end of the season looming, Phillips is being linked with a move away from Elland Road. Aston Villa reportedly want the England international. Meanwhile, there have been a host of other sides in the running.
Villa have been admirers of Phillips for some time. And with the Villans making some big statements in the market, some Leeds fans may have feared that they would make the kind of offer that the Whites would not refuse.
Leeds have boosted their hopes of keeping their key men. They are now nine points clear of the bottom three after thrashing Watford 3-0 on Saturday. And it does appear that they now have a fantastic chance of remaining in the top-flight.
Villa may still come calling. But they have also been linked with a move for Bissouma as his contract runs down at Brighton. And O’Rourke believes that the £50 million-rated Brighton star is more likely to end up making the move than Phillips, as things stand.
“I think Brighton would be willing to do business for the right fee. So, I think for Villa, they do like Bissouma, and I think that deal is more achievable probably than Kalvin Phillips right now,” he told Give Me Sport.
Leeds focus will be on getting across the line before sorting Kalvin Phillips’ future
Phillips and the rest of the Leeds team appear to be enjoying life under Jesse Marsch. There is an excitement about their current run of form. And they are not far away from ensuring that they will remain in the top-flight.
With that, Leeds will hope that they can hold onto Phillips should they stay up.
Villa going on and signing Bissouma would certainly boost those hopes of ensuring Phillips goes nowhere.
