Journalist Christian Falk has taken to Twitter to claim that Mohamed Salah has told his Liverpool teammates in the dressing room that he wants to stay at Anfield.

Salah’s future has a question mark hanging over it. His current contract at Anfield expires at the end of next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks over fresh terms have broken down. But the ball is currently in Liverpool’s court with Salah not looking to leave the club this summer.

Clearly, it would be huge for the Reds if the Egyptian decided to sign a new contract. He has played as well this season as he has at any stage during his incredible spell with Liverpool.

Interestingly, Salah has now made it clear where he wants his future to lie, according to Falk. The Bild journalist has now suggested that the forward has told his teammates in the dressing room that he wants to stay on Merseyside.

Here is what Falk posted…

Liverpool fans unlikely to forgive the board if Salah is not handed new contract

Of course, contract discussions are rarely straightforward. And Liverpool may perhaps have some reservations about offering Salah a contract on the terms he is looking for. He will be 30 at the start of next season.

Having said that, it appears to be a no-brainer for Liverpool to offer Salah almost whatever he wants. He has already scored more than 150 goals for the club before finishing his fifth season. And there are absolutely no signs of him slowing down.

There is an element of risk attached given that he will presumably be tied down well into his thirties. But on current form, it is going to be some time before Salah stops being one of the world’s best players.

And Liverpool fans will surely struggle to forgive the board if Salah is not handed a new deal – particularly as he is reportedly keen to stay.
