Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was once again injured today in another worrying blow for Ange Postecoglou.

The Spurs boss has seen his squad decimated by injury and he lined up against Aston Villa today with no central defenders in the starting XI, opting to leave Eric Dier on the bench.

The game didn’t go to plan either, as Villa fought back to win 2-1 and make it three defeats in a row for Tottenham and Ange.

However, aside from the result, the injury to Bentancur from a nasty looking Matty Cash challenge was a bit stain on the day.

Postecoglou admitted after the game that it looked a painful one on his ankle. And commenting on the injury further, The Sun’s Tom Barclay noted how much pain Bentancur seemed to be in.

Taking to his social media account over on X, Barclay noted the following on Bentancur.

Tottenham fans will now be waiting patiently to see how bad this latest injury issue is.

With the likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven out injured, as well as Pape Sarr picking up a fresh knock, Spurs could do with some good news for once.

Bentancur blow could be massive

Most teams are getting injuries but Tottenham seem to really be suffering at the moment with a number of high-impact injury issues.

It was sad to see Bentancur on the floor today and while Cash didn’t necessarily go to hurt the midfielder, it was a bit of a bad one really.

Tottenham need to get their squad back fit and firing as soon as they can. Bentancur was only just back from a serious injury and to see him out again is going to hurt.

Hopefully, for Spurs fans anyway, it’s a a bit of nothing and settles down quickly. If not, then it could be a long old winter period for the club.
