Journalist shares what Mudryk's Shakhtar teammates have been saying about him and Arsenal

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has posted a thread on Twitter with some exciting information for Arsenal fans relating to Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Gunners have been in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over the Ukraine international over the past few weeks.

While there hasn’t been a breakthrough just yet, things seem to be heading in the right direction.

Earlier today, football.london reported that a deal for Arsenal to sign Mudryk is now close to being done.

Apparently, talks are now focusing on what add-ons and extras the Gunners will pay.

Mudryk has also been posting more Arsenal-friendly hints on social media – the praying emoji is one of the latest.

Meanwhile, Jacobs’ latest thread sheds a light regarding what the player’s teammates have been making of it all, and when Mudryk was reportedly hoping to make his Gunners debut.

His first post claimed that ‘those close’ to Mudryk say he’s ‘desperate’ to make his bow against Manchester United on January 22.

Indeed, his Shakhtar teammates had reportedly been predicting he’d score the winner in this Sunday’s North London derby.

Jacobs continued by claiming Mudryk’s teammates have been joking that he’s already an Arsenal player for months now.

At the same time, the player has actually remained very respectful towards Shakhtar, by training as hard as ever.

‘Arsenal haven’t lost optimism’

And in terms of the negotiations, ‘those close to the deal’ apparently always felt things would’ve taken a while.

It’s interesting – exciting, even – to hear that Shakhtar’s players have effectively been expecting Mudryk to be an Arsenal player for quite a while now.

It shows just how much the player has been eager to join the Gunners – though really, it’s not like he’s been keeping it a secret, as he?

Hopefully it won’t be long before we get to the really good stuff – Fabrizio Romano’s ‘here we go’, the ‘Arsenal and Shakhtar have agreed a deal worth £XYZ for Mudryk’ and, eventually, the all-important club announcements.
