Leeds United could face a battle to keep hold of star midfielder Tyler Adams, with other clubs set to look at signing him next summer.

That’s according to journalist Dean Jones anyway, who has told GiveMeSport that he expects the Whites to have a fight on their hands to keep hold of Adams.

The USA midfielder was one of a number of players from the States to impress in Qatar. Before heading out at the hands of The Netherlands, Adams had produced a number of fine displays. Indeed, he played well against England and cemented himself as a top player.

And according to Jones, that sort of form means Leeds might face a fight to keep hold of Adams next summer.

“He’s going to be a massive player in the game and someone we talk about in really high regard over the next five years,” Jones said for GiveMeSport.

“I think by the end of this season, Leeds might be in a bit of a fight to keep hold of him, but they’ll be desperate to win that fight.”

Inter Milan have already been linked with a move for Adams. However, that report has also been played down in some quarters. Certainly, Leeds will expect to be able to keep hold of Adams for the time being at least.

TBR’s View: Leeds need big finish to keep Adams

If Leeds go down, then Tyler Adams is gone anyway. There is no question of him staying if the Whites end up in the Championship and as a result, Marsch leaves.

For Leeds, they need to show the likes of Adams that they’re going places. That means finishing the second half of the season well and not even being remotely involved in a relegation battle.

With clubs sniffing already, Leeds have to impress Adams and convince him Elland Road is the place to be.
