Journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Jesse Lingard would love the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but suggested that he would want an important role in Antonio Conte’s plans.
Lingard, perhaps surprisingly, remains a free agent with his future unclear. He left Manchester United at the end of his contract this summer.

Reports have suggested that Everton and West Ham want the England international. Meanwhile, there has also been interest from Newcastle.
But reports have also claimed that Tottenham want the attacking midfielder. Of course, Fabio Paratici has used the free agent market to bring in both Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic this summer.

And with Spurs set to play in the Champions League, signing Lingard would have the potential to be a shrewd piece of business.
Certainly, Jones believes that Lingard would relish the chance to join Tottenham, but only with assurances that he would have a big role to play.
“It’s always a nice luxury to have to bring in a player with that creativity that can add depth to the squad,” he told Give Me Sport.
“I’ll be honest, with Lingard, he would love a club of that level, but only if he can sense a big role within that team and I’m not sure I see Jesse Lingard playing a big part in Tottenham’s team next season given what we’ve already seen from them last season and what we’ve seen this summer.”
Lingard would love to join Tottenham
Lingard would have the potential to be a really smart signing if Tottenham pursued a deal. But having struggled for chances with Manchester United, he will surely be wary of signing up for a similar fringe role at his next club.
He would push the attacking players in the Spurs squad if he signed. Lingard is a ‘brilliant‘ player with huge amounts of Premier League experience.
And clearly, it is an exciting time to join Tottenham. So it will be interesting to see what happens should Spurs make a concrete offer.
