Journalist says Arsenal signing Lucas Paqueta is ‘very possible’

Journalist Ben Jacobs has responded to an Arsenal fan’s question about Lucas Paqueta on Twitter, claiming that a move for the Brazilian is ‘very possible’ with the Gunners looking to speak to the midfielder first.

Arsenal have enjoyed an impressive window so far. But it does feel as though Mikel Arteta and Edu have further business to do before the Premier League season starts.

And Paqueta may perhaps be the name at the top of the list. Reports this week claimed that Arteta had given a move for the 24-year-old his approval.

And Jacobs has now provided a further update. He suggested that a deal is very possible after being asked about the links by a Gunners supporter. However, he did note that Lyon want around £54.7 million for Paqueta.

Here is what Jacobs posted on Twitter…

Arsenal move for Lucas Paqueta very possible

Signing Paqueta would certainly excite a lot of Arsenal supporters. He enjoyed a stunning campaign with Lyon last year, contributing 18 goal involvements in all competitions.

And he can play in a number of midfield roles. His form was labelled ‘amazing‘ at times. And of course, he would potentially become one of Arsenal’s most expensive signings ever if he moved to the Emirates.

The asking price may be a potential issue. It is a lot of money to pay for a player who is yet to establish himself in one of Europe’s elite divisions.

And as Jacobs notes, Lyon are unlikely to be in the mood to compromise too much. But perhaps, Arsenal rate him that highly that they are prepared to spend big.
