Liverpool Transfer News: Sky Sports journo drops interesting Moises Caicedo claim
Liverpool continue to be linked with new midfielders, with Brighton star Moises Caicedo among those being considered by the Reds.
Caicedo has emerged as one of the star midfielders in the Premier League. Some outstanding displays with Brighton have seen Caicedo’s stock rise. Indeed, the Seagulls are pushing for Europe, with Caicedo very much at the heart of things.
Of course, Liverpool’s interest could alter things. The chance to play for one of England’s great clubs could tempt the midfielder.
And speaking to GiveMeSport, Sky Sports regular Dharmesh Sheth believes it’s still one for Liverpool fans to watch in January.
“It looks like the number one choice is Jude Bellingham, but there has been an interest in Moises Caicedo as well. That’s definitely one to keep an eye on,” Sheth said for GMS.
“I’m not sure if it would be in this transfer window or whether it will be in the summer because Brighton don’t want to sell midseason, Brighton have got their own ambitions. Remember, they probably feel that they can get into the European places, which would be an incredible achievement for them this season, and Caicedo has actually spoken about that. Yes, we’re playing very, very well. And we’ve got a chance of qualifying for Europe.“
TBR’s View: Caicedo a good Liverpool match but expensive right now
Klopp keeps playing it down and getting frustrated with the press asking about January deals. However, it’s easy to see why the questions keep coming.
Liverpool need a new midfielder and Caicedo ticks so many boxes for the Reds. He really is that impressive, and his form for Brighton has been nothing short of outstanding.
However, the Seagulls want huge money. Sheth is right in that this is one to watch. But for now, it’s hard to see Liverpool paying circa £65m for Caicedo right now.
