Jounalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that he expects Arsenal to try and sign Eden Hazard in the summer in the hope that the Belgian is open to returning to the Premier League.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Hazard for a little while. Reports in March claimed that Arsenal had already made contact about a transfer.

And it was then suggested that they believed that they had an ace up their sleeve. The former Chelsea man has a good relationship with Martin Odegaard. And it is hoped that that will help beat the likes of Newcastle to his signature.

Jones has now provided a further update. And he claimed that he does expect the Gunners to make a bid for Hazard this summer despite the struggles he has had with Real Madrid.

“I think Arsenal will look at his situation and give it a go, and hope that he fancies coming back to London,” he told Give Me Sport.

Arsenal must be wary of gambling too much on Eden Hazard

Hazard really has had a torrid time at the Bernabeu. He has scored six goals in 65 appearances in all competitions. And he has not provided many more assists for the club.

He has also struggled with injury during his time in the Spanish capital. So Arsenal must be wary of gambling too much on Hazard.

Reports have previously claimed that he could be offered the chance to leave on loan, with his wages worth around £483,000-a-week. And that may make a lot of sense for Arsenal.

Aston Villa signed Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona with the Brazilian really struggling at the Nou Camp. And that deal has proved to be inspired.

That should give Arsenal some reason for optimism. Like Coutinho, Hazard has been poor for a Spanish giant after previously looking an ‘absolute superstar‘ in the Premier League.

If there is a loan deal to be done, that could easily work out brilliantly for all parties.
