Journalist doubts Conte would leave Tottenham for Juventus

Journalist Paul Brown has told Give Me Sport that he does not think Antonio Conte would want to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Juventus, but made a concerning comment about why the Italian may snub a return.

Conte continues to threaten to lead Spurs into a potentially special spell for the club. They have made huge strides since his appointment. And the fans will have real hope that he can secure silverware during his tenure.

But speculation surrounding Conte’s future has never been far away. Reports in the summer claimed that he would be interested in the PSG job. And there have now been suggestions that he could be in contention for the Juventus post should Massimiliano Allegri lose his job at some stage.

Conte enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in Turin. But Brown does not see the Tottenham boss wanting to make a return should the job become available.

He did however, hint that Conte may have some interest if something even more high-profile came along.

“My gut feeling is that Juventus is not probably the one that he would pick if he had choices,” he told Give Me Sport.

“There’s a little bit of been there done that with Conte, and I think perhaps there might be bigger clubs that he has his eyes and his heart set on, so it’s not a given that if Juventus came back in for him that Conte would jump ship.”

Tottenham will probably have little concern about the links between Conte and Juventus. Ultimately, if they continue to keep progressing as a club and give the 53-year-old what he wants, they will surely stand an excellent chance of keeping him for the long-term.

But Brown’s comments do act as something of a warning. There are going to be some top jobs that come available in the coming years. And Conte is likely to be linked with them – whether he is at Tottenham still or not.

Spurs’ task is to make sure that he has little reason to look elsewhere.
