Journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that he has learned that the chances of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha staying at Leeds United beyond the summer are now slim-to-none.

Of course, it has been a remarkable few days at Elland Road. Marcelo Bielsa is no longer in charge after he was sacked at the weekend with the Whites really struggling right now.

Leeds have wasted little time appointing a new head coach, with Jesse Marsch coming in. But clearly, many fans are looking at the club in a completely different light.

It is going to be fascinating to see how the next few years play out. Certainly, while Bielsa was in charge, it appeared absolutely imperative that the likes of Phillips and Raphinha stayed for as long as possible.

Leeds are hoping that Marsch can lead them to safety. And if he does, it will be so intriguing to see how the side move forward after such a massive change.

It would appear that one of Marsch’s tasks this summer could be to replace Phillips and Raphinha. Jones has claimed that he has been told that the pair are now likely to be on the move this summer.

“Sadly for Leeds fans, the Bielsa exit is not the only one they will be sorrowing this year. From what I’m hearing, the chances of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha staying beyond this season are slim-to-none,” he told Give Me Sport.

Phillips and Raphinha surely unlikely to make decisions on Leeds future while so much is still up in the air

Of course, Phillips and Raphinha are two players who will have thought about their futures in the last few days. They are world-class players. And Leeds have now taken a huge gamble.

Having said that, surely neither player will have made a final decision on their future at this stage.

Leeds fans have always known that Raphinha’s departure will come at some point. And keeping Phillips will prove just as tricky should they stop making progress as a club. Phillips also had a remarkable relationship with Bielsa, so he may think differently about staying.

But Marsch could be a really exciting appointment. And if Leeds go on a run and display their potential once again, then the likes of Phillips and Raphinha will surely be much more open to the prospect of staying.

Therefore, it is hard to imagine that either player is already certain about what comes next.
