Journalist claims Arsenal and Tottenham now want Borna Sosa

Journalist Christian Falk has claimed on Twitter that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Borna Sosa after he missed out on a Premier League move during the January transfer window.

Sosa has been in good form for Stuttgart this season. He has contributed five assists across the Bundesliga and German Cup.

The majority of his appearances have come at left midfield. However, he has also featured on the opposite flank, and at left-back.

Interestingly, Stuttgart faced a battle to keep the Croatia international in January. Falk has claimed that Chelsea discussed a move for the 24-year-old. Obviously, the Blues were unable to get a deal done.

And that appears to have alerted a couple of their Premier League rivals. Falk reports that both Arsenal and Tottenham want Sosa this summer.

Tottenham may need Borna Sosa more than Arsenal

Sosa looks to be an intriguing target for Arsenal. Of course, Mikel Arteta already has Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares battling over the left-back spot.

Meanwhile, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli have shared the responsibility further up the line. So Sosa would face a battle for a place in the side.

Tottenham do have Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon. However, Sessegnon’s time in North London is still yet to really get going.

And there are doubts over whether Reguilon will still be at Tottenham next season. Real Madrid have reportedly made the Spaniard their number one target for the left-back spot.

Sosa would certainly not be a bad signing for either club. Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat – who was previously at Arsenal – claimed that he has the ‘same qualities‘ as David Beckham.

In fairness, he averages better than one assist every four games in the Bundesliga. And it says a lot that the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all want him.
