Raheem Sterling looks set to leave Chelsea and a player Jose Mourinho got rid of for the Blues now may be vital in moving him on this summer.

After a disastrous loan at Arsenal for Sterling, the English winger is back at Stamford Bridge. But not for long.

TBR Football understands that Sterling has been informed that he has no future at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca, which means he needs a new home this summer.

So could he reunite with a former Chelsea star, this time in Italy?

Kevin De Bruyne could lure Raheem Sterling to Napoli

TBR Football understands that Napoli are continuing to battle with Nottingham Forest for the signature of Dan Ndoye, but they are also talking to alternatives, one of which we understand is Sterling.

So that means former Chelsea star Kevin De Bruyne may have a part to play in Sterling moving to Napoli this summer – with the two playing together for a whopping seven years.

De Bruyne left City for Napoli this summer, after 10 glorious years with the Cityzens. He won it all, the Premier League, Champions League, and countless individual accolades.

Now, he follows Scott McTominay from England’s top flight to the city of Naples, for a new chapter in the Belgian’s illustrious career. But now, can he take his good friend with him?

On Sterling, De Bruyne said in 2019 to the Players Tribune amid the winger getting stick from the press: “I am a brutally honest person.

“So I will let you in on a little secret. Before I came to Manchester City, I didn’t really know what to make of this Raheem Sterling guy.

“I had never met him, and from what I’d read about him in the English press, I thought he was going to be a very different character. I thought… Well… I didn’t think he’d be a bad guy, really.”

He continued: Truthfully, I don’t have many close friends – inside or outside of football. It takes me a really long time to open up to people.

“But over time, I got closer to Raheem, because our sons were born around the same time, so they would always play together.

“I really got to know Raheem, and I recognized what a smart and genuine person he is. He couldn’t be more different from what the tabloids were saying.

“This is the real truth: Raheem is one of the nicest, most humble guys I’ve met in football.”

Now, the pair could reunite, in what would be an excellent retirement plan for the duo in the luscious city of Naples.
