Jose Mourinho shares a pre-match routine of Tottenham star Harry Kane that he loves

Jose Mourinho has explained that he loves a specific pre-match routine that Tottenham forward Harry Kane does when it comes to penalties.

Kane, who played some of his best football when Mourinho was Spurs boss, is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.

He’s yet to score at Euro 2020 in three group stage appearances, but the pressure is cranked up for Tuesday’s match against Germany in the Round of 16.

Three Lions captain Kane was previously a Golden Boot winner at a World Cup. Therefore, surely his confidence is still high.

In addition, he ended up with 33 goals and 17 assists in 49 appearances last season for Spurs.

Mourinho has given away a secret about Kane when it comes to his penalty technique.

He’s explained that he loves the way the Spurs frontman decide which way he’s going to take his penalty days before a match because it gives him more time to practice it.

“There is something that I love on Harry, which is that when he goes to a game, he knows if there is a penalty, he knows how he is going to take it,” Mourinho told talkSPORT.

“It’s not like in the last moment he makes a decision, the last moment he changes his mind. Harry decides before the game, a few days before the game, he decides how he’s going to take it.

“And then he spends three/four days before the game practicing that shot. I just love that.”

Kane was immense at Tottenham with Mourinho

It ended disappointingly for Mourinho at Spurs, but he did have huge success with some individuals.

Kane, along with Heung-Min Son, were two Spurs attackers that benefited massively from working under the Portuguese coach.

Incidentally, Mourinho takes charge at Italian club Roma next season.

Kane now looks like an all-round forward after working with Mourinho.
