Johnny Giles has suggested to the Sunday Mirror (26/12; page 77) that Marcelo Bielsa would do a fantastic job as Manchester United boss as he lauded the Leeds head coach for the work he has done at Elland Road.
Bielsa has come in for a lot of criticism in recent times. While the large majority of Leeds supporters have not lost an ounce of faith in the Argentinian, some outsiders have seemingly relished seeing the Whites struggle this term.

Of course, Bielsa is not above receiving criticism. His preference to work with a small squad has made Leeds’ injury issues this term all the more difficult to deal with. And there have been times when changing approach may have perhaps limited the damage when they have been beaten.
But Leeds fans continue to back Bielsa. And he continues to have an admirer in Whites legend Giles. The 81-year-old however, may not endear himself to the Elland Road faithful too much, with the Mirror claiming that he has suggested that Bielsa should succeed Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United.

“If he can do what he does with the Leeds players, what could he achieve at Old Trafford?
“Bielsa’s done a fantastic job without spending a lot. Look at what he took over and what he has produced. He’s done brilliantly,” he told the Sunday Mirror (26/12; page 77).
Leeds future of Marcelo Bielsa may be somewhat uncertain, but Manchester United move will surely never happen
While Giles made the move between the two clubs during his playing days, there is no surely absolutely no chance that Bielsa ends up across the Pennines when his time with Leeds ends.
There are questions being asked about what the future holds for Bielsa at Elland Road. He has insisted that he wants to stay until the end of the season. And anyone who has followed his time at Leeds will know that that is perfectly normal to not look beyond the current campaign.
It may well be that this proves to be his final season with Leeds. But it would be one of the biggest shocks if he remained in England upon his departure.
Bielsa will leave Leeds as a legend when the time does come. And it is hard to see him jeopardising that by going in at Old Trafford.
