Jack Grealish completed a British-record transfer to Manchester City on Thursday evening for a fee of £100million. The England international leaves boyhood club Aston Villa to join the Premier League champions. Both John Terry and Micah Richards have reacted, as Grealish leaves Villa.
Grealish, 25, enjoyed a brilliant 20-21 campaign – producing 18 goal involvements in 26 league games. The England international was also a part of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 side that went as far as the final. Grealish was crucial in the win over Germany, involved in both goals for the 2-0 win.
Now, Grealish has decided to end his Villa stint and move to City. He pulled on the claret and blue of Villa a whopping 213 times but has now decided to join City. Micah Richards was one of the first to react, posting a touching message on Instagram. Richards, of course, played for both City and Villa.
Richards, clearly, cannot contain his excitement at Grealish in sky blue.
Terry and Richards react: Grealish swaps Villa for Manchester City
Richards, of course, was not the only person to respond on social media as Grealish swapped clubs. Plenty of his Villa teammates and his future England ones gave their take – including Manchester City sensation Kevin De Bruyne. He welcomed Grealish, and then said “time to get to work”.
Terry played alongside Grealish in his final year in professional football, before working with the Villa icon as a coach. Terry left Villa just days before Grealish had done – but still had time to post a very emotional message to the playmaker on Instagram.
Terry thinks Manchester City have a real player on their hands.
