In doing so he broke numerous Villa fans hearts, but there is also great excitement around City about seeing the playmaker in their shirt.

Grealish has already gone on record to suggest that he can’t wait to play with De Bruyne.

And the Belgian returned the favour on social media website Twitter last night.

Creative options

If City can get Grealish and De Bruyne into the same team, then their creative options will be hugely enviable.

Grealish and De Bruyne arguably were the Premier League’s two leading attacking midfielders last season, and whoever plays up-front should have an endless supply of chances.

Grealish’s move to City has just made Pep Guardiola’s side even stronger favourites to lift the Premier League title at the end of the season.
