John McGinn claims 24-year-old has been best Arsenal player this season “by a mile”
John McGinn claims that Scotland teammate Kieran Tierney has been the outstanding player at Arsenal during this most recent season.
Tierney, 24, is currently on international duty. However, he did miss the first game of Euro 2020 through injury in Scotland’s 2-0 loss to Czech Republic on Monday.
It’s been a difficult 2020/21 campaign for club side Arsenal, but he’s one of the rare shining lights in the squad.
The attack-minded left-back ended up seven goal contributions (two goals, five assists) in his 38 Gunners appearances across all competitions.
The north London club need to improve their underperforming side, but surely he’ll still be in the XI next year.
Scotland and Aston Villa midfielder McGinn has highlighted the quality of Tierney:
“Kieran is one of the best full-backs/ left-sided centre-backs in the world at the moment. Arsenal’s best player by a mile this season, so on Monday he was a clear miss [for Scotland],” McGinn said.

Tierney was born to be an Arsenal player. He wears his heart on his sleeve whenever he steps onto the pitch, so he’s a massive fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.
The £25million ace is such a threat with his brilliant stamina to get up and down the pitch from full-back. Additionally, he shows when he puts on his national jersey that he’s quality as a centre-back, too.
Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka will in the opinion of many though edge him out for the club’s top performer during the last 12 months
If Tierney is back from injury against England on Friday, Scotland will be massively boosted.
