Joe Gelhardt has expressed his delight on social media after Leeds announced on Thursday that the Whites had reached a deal to sign Sean McGurk.

McGurk has become the Whites’ fourth addition of the window. He follows Amari Miller, Jack Harrison and Junior Firpo through the Elland Road door.

The club confirmed that the 18-year-old has signed a three-year deal. He will initially link up with the under-23s.

It looks to have the potential to be a big statement from Leeds. McGurk has previously been linked with the likes of Spurs and Rangers.

Of course, it is not the first time Leeds have seen off competition to land one of Wigan’s best prospects.

It was during the previous summer window that the Whites signed Gelhardt. And that deal proved to be an absolute masterstroke.

Gelhardt is yet to make his first-team debut. But it appears to be a matter of time.

Gelhardt delighted as Leeds sign McGurk

The 19-year-old was outstanding for the under-23s last season. And he impressed in a number of different roles in attack.

Given the parallels, Leeds fans will be hoping that the Whites have found their next Gelhardt in McGurk.

And the good news is Gelhardt looks to be delighted with the announcement that the midfielder has joined him at Thorp Arch.
