Leeds United got off to a losing start this weekend under Jesse Marsch, as Harvey Barnes and Leicester City spoiled the party a bit for the American coach.
Marsch saw his side put in a good performance in the main at the King Power but they were eventually undone by Barnes and couldn’t find their own way past Kasper Schmeichel in the Foxes goal. Raphinha had the best chance of the game, while others like Daniel James and Joe Gelhardt beavered away.

However, Marsch might be looking for even more from the attacking third and looking at the latest under-23s XI, the new Leeds manager might have just taken the first steps to giving some of those younger players a chance. In today’s line-up against Mansfield, there is the notable absence of Crysencio Summerville.
Summerville has actually been with the first-team for much of the season anyway. Indeed, he was on the bench at the weekend against Leicester. But his absence from the 23s could suggest that Marsch is liking what he is seeing from the young winger.
TBR’s View: Summerville Could Excite Marsch
He’s certainly a box of tricks and if he’s been producing in training, then you can see why Marsch might be willing to take a closer look at Summerville.
Previously lauded as ‘unbelievable’ following one 23s performance, Summerville is certainly someone who could well flourish if given minutes.
These are a big few weeks for Jesse Marsch and Leeds. Summerville, then, could well be like a new signing if the American coach can get the best from him.
