Tottenham hero Jermain Defoe couldn’t believe his eyes after seeing what Dejan Kulusevski did just before half-time against Fulham last night
Spurs picked up a comfortable 2-0 win thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and James Maddison. A number of Tottenham players stepped up last night, but if there was one man who didn’t impress as much, it’s Kulusevski.

Jermain Defoe says Yottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski did something really strange last night
Dejan Kulusevski is one of Tottenham’s best players, but he had a pretty strange evening against Fulham yesterday.
The £110,000-a-week (Spotrac) Swede showed his class with a few moments of magic when he had the ball at his feet, but there were also times when he was very wasteful.
One such incident came just before half time, when Spurs were already a goal up and were searching for another. Kulusevski found himself at the end of a great pass and everyone expected him to shoot after he cut inside.
However, the 23-year-old selflessly decided to try and pass it to a teammate, baffling everyone. That broke down the move, and Ange Postecoglou was furious with him on the touchline.
Jermain Defoe, who was analysing the game as a pundit for Premier League Productions, found it strange that Kulusevski decided against shooting from that position.
He said: “Here, you just think, technically he’s so good, just roll it into the corner. He’s just looking at that extra pass, he’s almost trying to be too clever and then the chance is gone.
“You see here, I just can’t understand why he’d pass it there. When you watch at that angle, he doesn’t even look at the goal, he actually looks to his left first. As he goes through, he’s not even thinking of shooting.
“I think his first thought there is to pass it, which is really strange. Once you’re a forward player and you get into those areas, the first thing you should think is ‘how can I get my shot off?!’.

Tottenham need Kulusevski and Richarlison to step up
Tottenham have been amazing this season thanks to James Maddison and Son Heung-min.
The Englishman has scored three goals and provided five assists so far, while the Spurs skipper has netted seven goals and has picked up an assist. Those are some really good numbers there.
However, Tottenham’s two wide players – Kulusevski and Richarlison – have a combined four goals this season, which is simply not good enough.
They need to start firing soon if Spurs have any serious ambitions of challenging for the title.
