Jason Cundy has claimed on talkSPORT that Newcastle United could go on to sell Alexander Isak for £100 million in the coming years.

The Magpies signed the big Swede from Real Sociedad for a club-record £63 million last week (Sky Sports). He announced himself with a goal on his debut at Anfield, and everyone seems impressed by his quality.

Newcastle have just bought Isak and the last thing they’d be thinking about is selling him.

However, the fact that he’s still only 22 means re-sale value was definitely considered when the Magpies decided to splash over £60 million to sign him this summer.

Cundy has become a huge fan of Isak and he’s certain that the Swede’s value will go up considerably in a few years’ time. He thinks clubs will start tabling bids in the region of £100 million to sign the 22-year-old from Newcastle one day.

He said on talkSPORT: ” He’s still got a bit of growing to do, there’s still going to be that expectancy to put a bit of bulk on his upper body.

“He’s so quick, you saw his footwork. This kid could be as good as he wants to be, I genuinely believe that. He had a bit of a strange season last year at Sociedad. There were a lot of teams sniffing around him after the Euros last year. That’s where he really did catch the eye.

“I’ve followed his career and he had a bad season last year. His numbers weren’t great, but he will be a sound investment. We saw last night what this kid is capable of.

“Newcastle have got a really good player. There will be bids coming in. I think in years to come, he will be worth £100 million.”

A £100 million price tag for someone like Isak may sound absurd today, but there’s every chance it could happen in two or three years’ time.

The Swede is still only 22 and has the world at his feet. He’s nowhere near his prime yet, and he really does have the potential to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League one day.

Newcastle, however, shouldn’t even entertain the thought of selling him now. They are building a tremendous project, and Eddie Howe has already improved them massively over the last eight months.

Isak has a goal under his belt already, and Newcastle fans will be hoping he can find the net again tomorrow – this time, in front of the home fans at St James’ Park.
