Jamie Redknapp reacts to display of Liverpool target Gavi

Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 10/10; 22:09) that Gavi is going to be a superstar following his display for Spain against France – in comments that will certainly catch the eye of Liverpool fans.

The Reds are one of the sides to have been linked with a potential move for the 17-year-old. It was reported earlier this week that they are battling Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United for his signature.

In fact, it was suggested that his contract with Barcelona includes a release clause of just £42 million. And his terms at the Nou Camp only run until 2023, so Barca do not find themselves in the strongest position.

Gavi’s stock has only risen during the international break. He became the youngest player to represent Spain at senior level in their Nations League semi-final with Italy.

And he kept his place for the final against France. Unfortunately, the game ended in defeat for Luis Enrique’s men.

Nevertheless, Redknapp insisted that he was extremely impressed with what he saw from Gavi in the 2-1 loss in Milan.

“I think what they’ve shown today, they’re certainly a team for the future,” he told Sky Sports. “I look at Dani Olmo, didn’t play, I really like him, Gavi in midfield, Pino, the other boy who came on.

“Gavi’s going to be a superstar if he carries on at this trajectory. He’s got everything, I loved watching him play tonight.”

Liverpool must make move for Gavi while Barcelona are struggling

It has been a turbulent few months for Ronald Koeman’s side. They have seen a number of players, including some incredibly important ones, move on.

With that in mind, Liverpool must try and strike a deal at the earliest opportunity in the hope that Barca’s troubles are persisting.

Gavi looks to be destined for an incredible career. And he would potentially suit Jurgen Klopp’s side down to the ground.

If there is an opportunity, Liverpool must make the most of it.
