Mohamed Salah has signed a new Liverpool contract, much to the delight of everyone on the red half of Merseyside.

Salah was linked with a Liverpool exit at one point, but contract talks were going well, and now, a new deal has been penned.

As you can imagine, there’s delight all over Liverpool after this news, however, ever the pessimist, Jamie Carragher has noted that there’s one negative from this news.

Indeed, speaking on CBS, Carragher says that the one bad thing to come from Mohamed Salah signing his new deal is that he now won’t speak to the media for another two years, noting that Salah only really seems to speak when he wants a new contract.

Jamie Carragher says there’s one negative from Mohamed Salah signing his new deal

Carragher spoke about Salah signing his new deal.

Understandably, Carragher was over the moon that Salah is set to stay at Liverpool. After all, Salah has been in Ballon d’Or winning form lately.

However, Carragher did note that this is a shame in some ways as Salah now probably won’t speak to the media as often.

“Yes, Salah has signed the contract, yes everyone is absolutely delighted. Look at that, the Egyptian King.

“The only bad thing is that we’re probably not going to hear from Mo Salah now for another two years. He never does interviews, he only does interviews when he wants a new contract.

“Apologies Mo, but we want to hear more from you, we like hearing from you, we like interviewing you.”

Mohamed Salah’s recent media tour

Carragher says that Salah only speaks when he wants a new contract, and while that may be a tad harsh, he’s right in a lot of ways.

Indeed, Salah is famed for being quiet. In fact, it was a shock when Salah spoke to the media back in November in the mixed zone after a Liverpool game, as noted by Lewis Steele.

Mo Salah stopped in the mix zone just twice before Sunday. He doesn’t like speaking to the press unless he has to. And there’s a running joke that goes on that we always ask him to stop, ‘Mo, have you got two minutes?” Steele said.

“And he always says, ‘no, sorry,’ and carries on. The only time we’ve actually had more than that was down at West Ham last season, when he said, if I speak today, that will be fire. And those eight or ten words made more headlines than, you know, a sit down for an hour with another player would.”

However, in recent months, Salah has been happy to sit down and speak on a regular basis.

Salah has touched on all sorts of topics, Salah has spoken about Jurgen Klopp, while Salah even discussed how he wasn’t enjoying training so much recently too.

Of course, Salah has spoken about his future on a number of occasions too.

In recent months, we’ve heard more from Salah than we ever have before, but, as Carragher says, we’re likely to hear less and less now that his contract situation is resolved.
