Jamie Carragher believes there’ one player in the Liverpool XI who would effectively guarantee that Arsenal got the points to be champions.

Both the Gunners and the Reds have talented squads right now. Having spent in the summer – Arsenal spent £100m just on Declan Rice – they are both well equipped to tackle Manchester City.

Of course, there’s always going to be players in each squad who the other might fancy. And Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal would be miles ahead of what they need if they had goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.

Writing in his latest column for The Telegraph, Carragher makes the claim about Alisson and winning the title.

The Brazilian has been crucial for Liverpool since he signed for around £67m, playing a key role in Liverpool’s own title success.

And Carragher believes he’d give the Gunners the extra points needed to get over the line.

“If Arsenal had Alisson Becker they would be almost guaranteed a minimum of nine extra points, which would win them the title,” Carragher writes.

Of course, Arsenal have two top goalkeepers vying it out in David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale. That has already caused quite the stir this season, with pundits constantly bringing it up.

Alisson is the main man

There’s always been a bit of a debate in the last few seasons over whether Alisson or Ederson are the pick of the bunch.

But you do have to say, Alisson seems to be just a bit above the rest.

He makes big save after big save for Liverpool and over time, he’s proven quite the asset given the trophies and success.

Carragher makes an excellent point here. Alisson would 100% get Arsenal over the line, he is that good, and it would dispel the Ramsdale/Raya discussion as well.

It won’t ever happen, as we know. But it does show Arsenal just how good a goalkeeper needs to be to really make the difference.
