Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is proving a lot of people wrong with his performances this season, including Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

Mikel Arteta and Edu’s interest in Ramsdale before the start of this season really baffled everyone. Not many could understand the logic behind the move considering that the Englishman had suffered relegation in each of his last two seasons.

Carragher, like many other pundits, had a go at Arsenal’s decision to fork out a ton of money on Ramsdale in the summer. Those opinions have changed completely now.

The Sky Sports pundit admitted this week that he has never been more wrong about a player in his life.

Carragher: I was completely wrong about Ramsdale

The Englishman featured as a guest on The Wrighty’s House podcast on Ringer FC this week ahead of Arsenal’s game against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. He held his hands up and admitted that he was wrong about Ramsdale.

He said: “The keeper, I mean, if I’ve ever been wrong about a player more than Aaron Ramsdale, I don’t know who it is yet.

“It’s still early days, but I remember that last-minute goal vs Palace and he ran from one end of the pitch to the other to get involved with the celebrations.

“I thought there are little things with these young lads coming together and it reminded me of us at Liverpool under Gerard Houllier.”

Many people, including us, were wrong about Ramsdale. A move in the summer really didn’t make sense, but Arteta definitely knew what he was doing, and it’s paying off for the Gunners now.

Ramsdale, labelled as ‘brilliant‘ by Ian Wright, is yet to lose a game in Arsenal’s colours. He has kept six clean sheets in nine appearances and has conceded just four goals. That is a phenomenal record and the fact that he’s still only 23 means he’ll only get better.

The game against Liverpool this weekend will definitely be Ramsdale’s toughest test yet. If he can pass that, more and more people will have to come out and admit that they were wrong about the Englishman.
