Jamie Carragher thinks Arsenal are about to sign a 'superstar', amid reports

Arsenal are being linked with a move to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto today and he’s already had the Jamie Carragher seal of approval.

The young Portuguese star is being tipped for a move to The Emirates, with reports from this morning saying he is very much top of Arsenal’s list of potential signings this week. Of course, he will cost big money with Wolves under no big pressure to sell.

And if Arsenal do sign Neto before the deadline passes, then this is a player who Jamie Carragher predicted last season would get his big move eventually.

“Pedro Neto, playing for a team who aren’t the most adventurous to be honest. When you go down (the stats), you see the actual importance of Pedro Neto to this Wolves team, with the percentage of team goals and assists he’s involved with. He’s vital,” Carragher said on MNF last season for Sky.

“I think these three (Foden, Saka and Neto) are three of the real standouts, for young players of the year. I actually think the model of Wolves is buy young up and coming players and eventually sell them for big money and I think he’ll be the next one. I think he can be a real superstar.”

TBR’s View: Neto Can Complete Arsenal

This would be quite the signing by Arsenal and complete a quite ridiculous transfer window for them overall.

If they can bring Neto to the club they’re getting one of the very best young players in Europe. Neto was outstanding before he got injured last season and he’s already showing glimpses this season that he can get back to those levels.

He will cost a hefty fee of around £50m. But the Gunners are not averse to spending this summer and if Arteta wants him, then Edu will do his best to land Neto.
