Tottenham face Manchester United this weekend in a game that could genuinely go any sort of way.
Both teams have been wildly inconsistent this season, and that’s reflected in their respective league positions.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 13 | 24 | 8 | 5 | 11 | 28 | 34 | -6 | 29 | |
| 14 | 24 | 8 | 3 | 13 | 48 | 37 | 11 | 27 |
Spurs head into this game off the back of two very disappointing defeats against Aston Villa and Liverpool in the two cup competitions, and Ange Postecoglou is now under serious pressure.
Meanwhile, Manchester United come into this match off the back of four wins in their last five, but, the Red Devils have been uninspiring in many of those games.
Speaking on It’s Called Soccer, Jamie Carragher has been previewing this game, and he’s made a prediction around how this match will go.

Jamie Carragher predicts Tottenham vs Manchester United
Carragher shared his verdict on how this game will go.
The pundit gave a scathing view of both teams, claiming that this could genuinely look like a pub match.
Tottenham will have a few players back from injury for this match, but Carragher still thinks this will be a draw, tipping a 1-1 result between the two sides.
“I mean, this is like two pub teams, isn’t it? It is, isn’t it? I mean, what is this? The Red Lion vs The Dog and Duck?” Carragher said.
“You know what Man United do okay away from home, in sort of big stadium, but Tottenham beat them a few weeks ago. I think this will be 1-1, because I think Man United will go there, but they’re back five, sit there, try and make it awkward, try and nix up them. And I’m not sure Tottenham have got enough to score a few goals, even the energy.
“And I don’t think Man United have got the quality. I’m gonna go 1-1.”
Tottenham recent results vs Manchester United
Carragher reckons that this game will be a draw, and while it remains to be seen whether he’s right, recent history suggests that Tottenham will get something from this game.
Indeed, Spurs have had United’s number in recent times.
Tottenham used to seriously struggle against United – at one point between 2001 and 2012 they went eleven years without beating the Red Devils.
However, much like many teams in the Premier League, Spurs’ record against United has seriously improved in recent times.
Indeed, Tottenham have now not lost any of their last five matches against United.
| Tottenham’s last five games vs Manchester United | |
|---|---|
| Wins | 3 |
| Draws | 2 |
| Losses | 0 |
| Goals scored | 13 |
| Goals conceded | 7 |
This will certainly be an interesting match-up between two big teams who have struggled this season, and it will be even more interesting due to the presence of Mathys Tel at Tottenham.
Tel was close to joining Manchester United in January, and that might add a little bit more spice to the game from the striker’s perspective.
