The three reasons why Mathys Tel would rather sign for Man United than Tottenham

Mathys Tel is a wanted man with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United both keen to sign him.

The Bayern Munich forward is a terrific talent. He can play anywhere across the front line and has the ability to perform at the highest level for any club.

Tel, hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by Thierry Henry, initially wanted to stay at Bayern but he changed his mind recently. That has alerted several clubs, including Tottenham and Manchester United, who are pushing to get him.

However, Tel’s preference is a move to Old Trafford in this window.

Mathys Tel prefers Tottenham over Manchester United for three reasons

Both Manchester United and Tottenham have had very difficult starts to the new season.

The Red Devils are currently 12th in the Premier League table after 23 games, while Spurs are three places and five points below them.

The two sides need reinforcements in this window to help get their season back on track, and the opportunity to sign Tel has come at the right time.

Sadly for Spurs, GiveMeSport have claimed that the Bayern Munich star is ‘very keen’ on a move to Manchester United.

Tel’s preference is down to three reasons:

  1. Tel likes the status of Manchester United
  2. Tel is aware that Manchester United are in need of a player like him
  3. Tel is keen on the idea of working with Ruben Amorim

Manchester United are currently waiting to get a player out before they can sign Tel. Marcus Rashford is one they want to move on before the window shuts.

The report claims that the Red Devils are ‘hopeful Tel might hold out on committing to a move to Spurs – or anywhere else – until they can put their own offer together.’

The advantage Tottenham may have in the race to sign Mathys Tel

There’s not a lot of time left in the transfer window – it shuts on Monday night.

Both Manchester United and Tottenham will have to hurry if they want to get the players they want, and Spurs are doing that.

TBR Football revealed on Thursday that Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich to sign Tel in a deal worth around £60 million.

Manchester United haven’t entered concrete talks with Bayern over a move yet, which puts Spurs ahead of them.

However, if Tel rejects Tottenham and only wants to join United, Ange Postecoglou may have to abandon his pursuit and look elsewhere.
