Jamie Carragher believes he has spotted a crucial Liverpool flaw after the Community Shield loss against Crystal Palace.
The Reds lost the Community Shield in a penalty shootout, in which three players, including Mohamed Salah, failed to convert.
Liverpool squandered a one-goal lead on two separate occasions in an afternoon to forget for Arne Slot as Crystal Palace handed the boss his second Wembley defeat.

Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz were sensational for the Reds in a match that included competitive debut goals for the Frenchman and Jeremie Frimpong.
However, Jamie Carragher believes the amount of star-studded additions Liverpool have acquired over the summer has had a detrimental effect.
Jamie Carragher agrees with Liverpool new player problem
Although Milos Kerkez endured a quiet outing at Wembley compared to his fellow summer signings, it was indeed the Reds’ most senior players who ultimately let the side down against Crystal Palace.
Salah failed to make any recognised impact on the match and followed up his unusual, woeful display by blasting the first Liverpool penalty over the crossbar.
Furthermore, Virgil van Dijk conceded a clear penalty, allowing Jean-Philippe Mateta to equalise from the penalty spot in the 15th minute, and was caught out of position for Ismaila Sarr’s goal in the second half.
Nevertheless, Carragher took to X to voice his frustrations regarding the Reds’ susceptibility to the Palace attack and responded to a supporter’s comment about the new faces at Anfield.
The supporter wrote: “I think people are underestimating how tricky it is to bed in several new players at once, no matter how good they are individually.”
Carragher replied: “100% Tony.”
Liverpool still have work to do in the transfer market
Regardless of what Carragher believes about Liverpool’s transfer dealings this summer, the fact remains that the side is still ideally two players short.
The Reds allowed Jarell Quansah to leave for Bayer Leverkusen and have yet to sign a replacement, with the matter becoming more urgent by the day, with Joe Gomez still on the sidelines.
Marc Guehi prefers a move to Anfield if he is to leave Crystal Palace this summer, but with only a year left on his deal at Selhurst Park, the club are indicating they would prefer to sign the defender on a free next year.

Whether that decision proves wise will only be revealed over the course of the season – what once looked like a methodical transfer approach by the Reds has faltered in recent weeks.
As widely reported, Newcastle are trying to hold on to Alexander Isak despite the Swede doing everything in his power to force a move to Anfield.
The Liverpool squad needs another central defender and attacker before they can be considered ready to compete on all fronts.
