Liverpool beat West Ham on Sunday in dramatic fashion to tighten their grip on the Premier League title race.

The title race is over according to some, but Liverpool had been going through a bit of a wobble as of late.

Indeed, the Reds were coming off the back of a loss to Fulham, while they needed a controversial goal to get past Everton.

Liverpool scored a late winner to beat West Ham on Sunday, and, that goal seemed to spark something of a reaction in Arne Slot.

Slot has been calm all season long, but according to James Pearce, speaking on the Walk On Podcast, Slot was actually very animated after this game as he told Virgil van Dijk to get the team together to applaud the fans after the Kop helped the Reds get over the line late on.

What Arne Slot was doing after beating West Ham

Pearce shared what he saw Slot doing after Liverpool secured a win against West Ham.

According to the journalist, the manager was very animated after this game, claiming that he told Van Dijk to get the team together and gee up the crowd.

“I thought it was interesting watching Slot after the final whistle because that was as animated as I’ve seen him after a win all season, you know, throwing his arms up in front of the Kop and he actually, he went up to Van Dijk and, and basically said to Van Dijk, get all the players together and I want them to kind of like, basically applaud the fans for, for what they, what they did for us there. So yeah, it was definitely one of those moments when the power of Anfield came to the fore,” Pearce said.

Arne Slot’s home record for Liverpool

Arne Slot made sure to acknowledge the fans after beating West Ham on Sunday, and the power of the Anfield crowd is something that Slot has felt this season.

Liverpool have always been tough to beat at home, but Slot’s side have almost taken that to another level this season with a near-impeccable home record.

The Anfield crowd is something special, and this was one of the first times that Slot has seen first-hand how the fans can influence a big moment late in a game.

Another team in another stadium wouldn’t have been able to find a late winner on Sunday, but Liverpool and their fanbase are genuinely one of a kind, and Slot was quick to acknowledge that after the final whistle.
