Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson was an unlikely source of England’s first goal against Senegal last night.
The 32-year-old made an uncharacteristic run into the box to get on the end of a Jude Bellingham cross.
Henderson took to Instagram after the match to celebrate the Three Lions’ win.
Liverpool’s captain isn’t well known for his goalscoring antics.
It was only his third strike for the Three Lions in 72 appearances, but his second at a major tournament.

After missing out altogether against Iran and coming on as a substitute against the USA, Henderson has started each of England’s last two games.
Henderson is at this third World Cup, and that experience is incredibly valuable to Southgate.
Typically seen as more of a defensive midfielder, he’s brought important balance to this England side.
With a very impressive France team up next, it would be a surprise to see Henderson drop down to the bench on Saturday.
Henderson impresses at the World Cup
After scoring his first World Cup goal, Henderson posted on Instagram with a picture of him celebrating with Bellingham.
A number of his club and international teammates replied, and were over the moon for the Liverpool skipper.
Declan Rice simply said, ‘Yessss’, while Bellingham used an embracing emoji.

England and Liverpool veteran James Milner thought Henderson was on fire, and would have appreciated his tireless display.
Bellingham came out in support of Henderson after the match, saying the Liverpool man is really underrated.

His role for both club and country means he rarely stands out as a top performer.
BBC pundit Matty Upson believed he was the standout player in England’s midfield yesterday.
His importance as a leader on and off the pitch can’t be understated.
Henderson has once again shown his quality at this World Cup, something Jurgen Klopp will be very pleased to see too.
England’s players and fans will now be dreaming about another chance to win a major trophy.
For Henderson, it’s likely to be his last chance to add football’s biggest tournament to his trophy cabinet.
