Jordi Osei-Tutu has confirmed on Instagram that he has left Arsenal for German side VFL Bochum on a permanent deal, and plenty of popular names including Jack Wilshere and Emile Smith Rowe have wished him well.

The now 23-year-old right-back, branded as a ‘great lad’, initially joined Arsenal as a scholar from Reading back in the summer of 2015. Just a few months later, Arsenal handed him a professional contract, and he was viewed by many at the club as a future first-team star.

After a year on loan in Germany at Bochum in the 2019/20 season, Osei-Tutu was sent out again to Cardiff, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham on short-term deals.

Things didn’t quite work out for him there, and after realising he has no future at Arsenal, he has decided to make the switch to Germany. Arsenal confirmed the deal on their website yesterday.

Osei-Tutu took to Instagram to bid farewell to Arsenal after his move to Bochum was made official.

He wrote: “I am privileged to be able to say I wore the Arsenal Shirt. The last 7 years have been a priceless experience. I will forever be grateful for all the experience and insight gained from the various managers and coaches I have worked under.

“And I would also like to thank the Arsenal fans who have always been supportive. Thank you Arsenal, you will always be in my heart. North London Is Red. But you know what they say; when another door closes another door opens.

Wilshere, Smith Rowe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Omari Hutchinson and Charlie Patino all reacted to his post.

Arsenal already have a replacement

It’s a shame that things didn’t work out for Osei-Tutu at Arsenal.

The 23-year-old was never going to make it to the senior side considering that the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Cedric Soares and Zak Swanson were all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Another player who is tipped to have a great future at Arsenal is young Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who had an absolutely incredible loan spell at Lincoln City in the second half of last season.

The 18-year-old is hugely talented and could well be the man who takes over from Osei-Tutu and fulfils his humongous potential at Arsenal.
