'I've made my decision': Reported Arsenal target confirms he doesn't want to leave

Arsenal have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby in recent months.

In May, L’Equipe claimed that the Gunners, Spurs and Newcastle were all interested in the 23-year-old.

More recently, journalist Pete O’Rourke suggested – just before Raphinha completed his Barcelona move – that Arsenal could turn their attentions to Diaby.

“Diaby is probably on the list of a number of top clubs who are looking at attacking wingers this summer,” he told GiveMeSport.

“And I’m sure Arsenal are no different.

“Obviously, they tried for Raphinha, but it looks like he wants only to join Barcelona. So I’m sure they’re looking at other potential targets.

“And Diaby, as I said, will be on the list of a lot of top clubs because he’s been a proven performer for Leverkusen and also for France.”

However, the France international has now confirmed that he plans to stay put this summer.

In an interview with German outlet RP Online, Diaby said: “I’ve made my decision and will play for Bayer Leverkusen again next season.”

Diaby was a star for Leverkusen last season, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions – more than any Arsenal player.

However, the Bundesliga club reportedly slapped an eye-watering £60million price tag on their star attacker, which complicated things.

And now, Diaby himself has confirmed that he’s not planning to leave this season.

Arsenal have enjoyed a great transfer window so far, but a new winger continues to elude them.

Nonetheless, the Gunners still have plenty of time before the window shuts to get a new wide-man over the line at N5.
