Micah Richards has given his verdict on what is happening with Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The former Manchester City star cannot believe the decision that was made on Onana at the Africa Cup of Nations.
So, what has Micah Richards said about Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana? Let’s take a look.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana at Africa Cup of Nations
Well, Andre Onana is not at Manchester United at the moment. The goalkeeper is playing for Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Onana joined United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023. The Red Devils paid an initial transfer fee of £43.8 million for the 27-year-old goalkeeper (BBC Sport).
The former Ajax goalkeeper has not been at his best and has made some costly mistakes. United manager Erik ten Hag, though, still rates him.
Onana left for Cameroon later than other players at the Africa Cup of Nations. He played for United against Tottenham Hotspur before jumping on a private jet to fly out, according to The Mirror.
The 27-year-old did not feature for Cameroon against Guinea before starting against Senegal in their second group game.
Cameroon manager Rigobert Song dropped the goalkeeper for the match against Gambia.
Micah Richards reacts
Former Manchester City star and BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards has given his verdict on the situation of Onana.
The pundit is confused as to why Onana was dropped and cannot believe what is happening with the United goalkeeper.

Richards said about Onana on The Rest is Football podcast: “The only thing I don’t understand is, you know players going from the Premier League, how come Onana was allowed to leave so late?
“I have seen players go in different times it’s just madness, surely there should be a cut-off point when they can go so you can prepare? And then he’s been dropped. The whole thing is just chaos.”
Cameroon have finished second in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group C table with four points from three matches, five points behind leaders Senegal.
The Indomitable Lions will take on Nigeria in the Round of 16 on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if Onana starts.
Onana has made 21 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The goalkeeper has kept six clean sheets in those games.
