Harry Redknapp has claimed on TalkSport that he cannot believe what has happened to Dele Alli after leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old was once one of the best players in the Premier League. He really thrived under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs and was even valued at £100 million at one point.
Just a few years later, he was shipped off for nothing to Everton and even though Frank Lampard looked like he really wanted him, the game time he has been given tells a completely different story.
Redknapp, who has watched Alli for a long time, cannot believe that he cannot get into the team.
Harry Redknapp: I cannot believe what has happened to Dele Alli after leaving Tottenham
The ex-Tottenham boss said: “What’s happened to Dele Alli? Frank brought him in and was so excited about bringing him in. There has got to be something wrong with what he’s doing, he can’t get in the team.
“He goes back to Tottenham last night, it’s almost embarrassing.
“When you have been a big player and you go back to your old club, you don’t want to be sitting on the bench, you want to show them what you can do.
“He can’t even get into the team. He’s done nothing and I’ve been one of his biggest fans.”

What has happened to Dele Alli?! That’s a question on so many people’s minds, perhaps even on the Englishman’s mind too.
After joining Everton, Alli started against Newcastle last month and he wasn’t great. Since then, he has been a substitute in every single game and has played a combined 73 minutes of football in the Toffees’ last four Premier League fixtures.
Lampard clearly believed that the ex-Tottenham man would be able to have an impact on his side. Sadly, it’s now looking like the Everton boss doesn’t even fully trust Alli anymore.
Tottenham, on the other hand, will be glad that they ended their connection with Englishman, but it really is sad to see such a good player struggle so much.
