'It's a pity': Antonio Conte hints 'dangerous' Tottenham player won't feature v Brentford
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has admitted that Lucas Moura remains unavailable for Spurs.
The Brazilian has missed two months of action with a heel injury.
Moura has played just 90 minutes across eight Premier League appearances this season.
He also missed all three of Tottenham’s friendly matches against Motherwell, Peterborough Under-21s, and Nice.
Now, with Spurs preparing to return to Premier League action on Boxing Day, Moura is sadly still not available.
Conte, speaking to football.london ahead of the Brentford match, admitted he doesn’t know when the forward will be back.
“About Lucas Moura, we didn’t have him from the start of the season,” he said. “And we are continuing to not have him.
“He has this problem, he is struggling a lot to find a solution.
“For sure it’s a difficult situation. Because I have a good player in my squad, but he’s never available. It’s like you don’t have him.
“It’s a pity because I repeat: we are talking about a good player, a good guy, but he is struggling a lot to solve this problem.
“I don’t know, I don’t know what in the future happens about him.”
Fingers crossed Tottenham get to the bottom of this
You’ve really got to feel sorry for Moura. It’s bad enough having an injury, but not knowing when it’ll get better or go away is particularly unpleasant.
Likewise, it’s bad for the team. Moura is a ‘dangerous‘ and ‘formidable‘ player who Conte likes and trusts. His absence deprives the Spurs manager of a good option in attack.
Fingers crossed Moura and Tottenham soon find out exactly what the problem is and how long it’ll take him to recover for good.
