Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are going to struggle to sign Amadou Onana from Sean Dyche’s Everton.
That is according to iNews, which has reported how much Arsenal and Newcastle would have to pay for Onana.
So, what has been reported about Arsenal, Newcastle United and Amadou Onana? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal and Newcastle United want Everton star Amadou Onana
Well, according to iNews, Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in signing Amadou Onana from Premier League rivals Everton before the January transfer window shuts this week.
The report has claimed that Everton are not forced to sell any of their players this week, adding that the Toffees would want at least £50 million for the 22-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder. Manchester United have also been linked.

“Everton do not need to sell players before Thursday’s deadline despite uncertainty over the club’s future, with sources claiming prising Amadou Onana from Goodison Park would now be ‘very, very difficult’,” states the report.
“Arsenal and Newcastle are among the clubs interested in Onana but it is understood the club are yet to have a single enquiry for the Belgium international – and the closer Thursday night’s deadline gets, the less chance the club would countenance even a sizeable bid for Onana, who is valued significantly north of £50m by Everton.”
My View: Everton should not sell Amadou Onana
In my opinion, Everton should not sell Amadou Onana so late in the January transfer window.
Yes, I know that Everton have FFP issues, and a bid of over £50 million for Onana could be very tempting for the Toffees.
But, Everton need to remember that they are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
If the Toffees are to have a successful long-term future as a club, then they must retain their Premier League status for next season.
Selling Onana, who is on the radar of Chelsea as well, now would severely affect Everton’s chances of survival in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has made 16 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Everton this season. He has scored one goal in those games.
Everton are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from 21 matches, a point ahead of third-from-bottom Luton Town, who have played 20 games.
