Chelsea are reportedly admirers of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, who is rumoured to be in talks to join Arsenal.

The Belgian international has once again been linked with a move to north London this January, with recent reports suggesting that Arsenal are actually in talks to sign Onana.

Valued at £58m, Everton could be tempted into selling the midfielder given their horrendous financial position and their need to bring in some capital this month, even if it means offloading a talent like Onana.

And now, according to the Mirror, Chelsea are admirers of Onana, with the Blues interested in adding to their midfield this January as well as their toothless attack.

Lauded by Darren Bent as an ‘outstanding’ player, Chelsea’s interest in Onana could make things complicated for Arsenal’s own pursuit for the Everton midfielder.

However, given that Arsenal and Chelsea both need to sell before they can buy, all signs seem to point towards neither side signing Onana this month given how little time there is to recoup funds.

Onana’s stock continues to rise as one of Everton’s most exciting players, with transfer interest only growing by the day for the youngster.

And for Arsenal and Chelsea, there’s a real chance that the two London-based Premier League clubs could now battle it out for Onana’s signature in the summer.

As we know, both teams are interested in signing the Belgian international, with Everton also in a position where they could have to sell their star midfielder.

Yet with a deal unlikely this month, Arsenal and Chelsea could wait until the summer to do battle once again for a top prospect, with Onana now the target for the two clubs.
