Some Celtic fans have been reacting on social media in disbelief to reports by the Daily Mail, claiming Arsenal are considering a move to sign Jonjoe Kenny.
Neil Lennon raided Everton to sign the 24-year-old on loan in January after selling Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen. But the Toffees product failed to show he deserved a permanent move during his fourth months in Glasgow.
Kenny started life in the Premiership strongly by adding a creative threat to the position, only for his crossing to prove wayward. His tackling was often not up to scratch, either, while his back passes repeatedly caused the Hoops issues.

But Arsenal have listed Kenny among a shortlist of right-backs who could replace Hector Bellerin this summer. Lille’s Zeki Celik is also being discussed, with Mikel Arteta eying depth behind Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares.
The Gunners also like Tariq Lamptey but a deal for the speedster is unlikely, with Brighton demanding at least £50million for the Tottenham target. Norwich’s asking price is also likely to rule out a move for Max Aarons.
Kenny could be a cheaper alternative for Arsenal to add numbers at right-back this summer. Everton wanted £10m for the Liverpool-born defender in January amid interest from Burnley, who refused to pay so much, per the Mirror.
The Toffees will now struggle to demand such a figure after Kenny flopped at Celtic. The defender is also entering the final 12-months of his contract with his £15,000-per-week deal expiring next year.
Celtic fans react to Arsenal interest in Kenny
But some Celtic fans were shocked to hear Arsenal are considering a move to sign Everton product Kenny. That’s because his efforts at Parkhead were so far below the standard expected they believe Arteta can afford to do better.
Kenny started all 16 of his appearances in Glasgow, after failing to establish himself at Everton after spending 2019/20 on loan at Schalke. He made just eight appearances, starting four, under Carlo Ancelotti between injuries.
Everton fans were also shocked to see reports that Arsenal are considering a move for Kenny. The right-back played just three minutes over his final three Premier League games last season before joining Celtic on loan.
So, here are some of the messages shared as Celtic fans reacted to Arsenal eying Kenny this summer…
