Everton fans react as Arsenal eye Jonjoe Kenny deal
Arsenal are eyeing a shock move to sign Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny if Hector Bellerin secured a move away from the club.
The Daily Mail claim that the player who spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic is someone Arsenal are considering.
He made 16 appearances for the Hoops, featuring largely in his natural right-back position.
Celtic have a new manager now though and they look unlikely to sign the 24-year-old again for 2021/22.
Kenny has risen through the academy ranks at Goodison Park. He’s made 48 appearances for the Toffees but does seem to be down the pecking order.
That makes him a player who Arsenal could sign with very little in the way of obstacles to overcome.
Kenny may have a chance to impress Everton’s new manager, although his days at the club could be numbered.
Similarly, Arsenal will probably move on from Bellerin this summer. His long-standing association with the club may end with clubs in Spain vying to sign him.
That will leave Arsenal in need of a replacement and several right-backs have been linked.
The Gunners finished eighth last season and signing players to help them progress is a must for Mikel Arteta fans not keen on Kenny deal
Everton fans want Kenny sold
It’s fair to say that Everton fans wouldn’t be overly fussed to see their defender sold this summer.
Some even find the notion of him going to a club like Arsenal rather comical.
Everton will perhaps look to sign defenders of their own this summer and Kenny leaving should free up some funds.
Following today’s news, we looked at what the Toffees faithful were saying on Twitter about a possible move to Arsenal.
Here is what they had to say about the former Celtic and Schalke loan right-back.
