Ireland fans discuss Tottenham star Troy Parrott's performance against Hungary on Tuesday
Ireland ended an improved end-of-season camp with a decent away draw against Hungary on Tuesday night, as the match ended 0-0. Tottenham Hotspur talent Troy Parrott started the match as a number 10 – and Ireland fans have discussed his performance. Many applauded the Spurs ace.
Parrott, 19, has endured a tricky season. Following a disappointing loan spell at Millwall, he moved to Ipswich in January on loan. There were glimpses of class but ultimately, his two goals in 18 games was simply not enough. But he ended the 2020-21 season on a massive high, with Ireland.
The striker was handed his fifth cap against Andorra last week, and so, he marked it with a brilliant brace. His first goals for Ireland’s senior team delivered Stephen Kenny’s first win as manager – a 4-1 victory. So, those goals saw him start against Hungary on Tuesday night, away from home.
What are Ireland fans saying about Tottenham star Parrott and his performance?
He played slightly deeper in the 10 role, behind Norwich City’s Adam Idah. While it was more fo a defensive job from Ireland, because Hungary dominated possession, Parrott showed glimpses of quality. More than willing to get on the ball, he picked up some nice positions and won numerous free-kicks.
Ireland fans discussed Parrott’s performance for Tottenham. Many believe he had done well for his country in what was his sixth appearance. Winning a free-kick after going down under the challenge of a Hungary midfielder – one fan remarked that he had learnt going to ground from Harry Kane.
