Ipswich Town were the surprise team to come up from the Championship last season, with the Tractor Boys back in the Premier League.
Mark McKenna has worked wonders in transforming the Portman Road side from a midtable League One team into one of the most exciting in the Premier League, with Ipswich this weekend getting their first point of the season against Fulham.
With players like Liam Delap, Omari Hutchinson and Kalvin Phillips on their books, there’s a chance that Ipswich could cause an upset an escape relegation this season if they can make the adjustment to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
And Ipswich were seemingly close to signing one former wonderkid once at Arsenal.

Ipswich made late swoop for Mexico international Marcelo Flores
According to AS, Ipswich made a last-minute attempt to sign Tigres winger Marcelo Flores, who was once on Arsenal’s books before moving to the Mexican giants earlier this year.
Once considered an ‘excellent‘ talent, Flores is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Liga MX and a future star for El Tri having come through at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.
And Ipswich were seemingly keen to bring the Canadian-born attacker back to England, with McKenna’s side making a late approach to sign Flores as part of the Premier League squad building.
However, as per the report, Ipswich’s proposal was rejected, with Tigres keen to keep hold of Flores, where the youngster’s development will be best served in Monterrey for the time being.

Flores could be back in the Premier League sooner rather than later
Flores was a player that a lot of Arsenal fans rated for good reason during his time in north London, with the youngster showcasing with the U-21s and U-18s that he had the potential to make it in the Premier League.
And with Ispwich making a move for Flores, there’s a real chance that the Mexico international could one day return to England to finally become a regular in the top-flight, with a club like Ipswich perfect for the 20-year-old.
Indeed, with Flores not a regular start with Tigres, though, the attacker would be better off remaining in Mexico to work on his development before thinking about a move back to Europe, where the Premier League will be in the forward’s sights.
