Before Friday’s deadline, Arsenal are now being linked with a remarkable late bid to sign Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman.
Mikel Arteta reportedly wants Arsenal to sign one more attacker before the window shuts, feeling as if his squad is still slightly undercooked.
In that respect, Eddie Nketiah’s Arsenal departure is significant, Arteta will have one less option in attack.
And when Gabriel Jesus missed the Aston Villa win injured, the importance of having someone like Nketiah for the bench was clear.
Jesus has often been injured in north London, and perhaps the arrival of someone like Coman is necessary, even if he’s not able to start as a centre-forward.
Arsenal haven’t said no signing Kingsley Coman from Bayern just yet
In-the-know Arsenal source Team News and Ticks has now provided a bit of clarification on links between the club and Coman.
Arsenal were linked with Coman by a reputable source on Thursday morning, and TNATS has now offered their own interpretation of the situation.

The source said that ‘nothing has changed’, stating that they’ve long been sharing news that Coman had been offered to Arsenal among other clubs.
Significantly, Arsenal still haven’t said no to those advances, but they also haven’t indicated that it’s a deal that the club would definitely pursue.
The Saudi-Pro League transfer window remains open beyond those in Europe, and it’s felt that Coman will wait to see if a bid from a European club does materialise.
Otherwise, Coman will head to Saudi Arabia.
Arsenal could be making a mistake with Coman
Of course, that update makes sense in relation to Coman’s agent denying he had agreed to head to Saudi Arabia already – claims that might prevent the likes of Arsenal from making a move.
It’s very difficult to decide whether signing 28-year-old Coman would be a good deal for Arsenal right now.
And in truth, the suitability of a deal would all depend on its structure.
A permanent move should be considered a no go for Arsenal – Coman would inhibit the club chasing better targets next summer.
However, if the Gunners were able to loan Coman for a season, paying a fee for the pleasure, it would be a satisfactory late deal.
A temporary move would also protect Arteta’s side in terms of Coman’s injuries, of which the Frenchman has suffered several over the past few years.
