Newcastle United endured a really tough summer transfer window.
The Magpies failed to sign top target Marc Guehi and by all accounts, many feel they failed to address glaring weaknesses of the squad.
A right winger was also a priority position and Eddie Howe was eager to sign Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga, but that deal failed to materialise despite a £50m bid.
Newcastle were targeting a teenage wide player earlier in the window, too, but he’s now set to join LaLiga giants Barcelona.

Newcastle target Abdul Aziz Issah set to join Barcelona
Newcastle were interested in signing Abdul Aziz Issah earlier in the summer transfer window after his impressive displays for Ghanian outfit Dreams FC.
However, the 18-year-old has now completed a switch to Barcelona, where he will link up with the reserve side, who ply their trade in Spain’s third tier.
Aziz Issah, who’s been labelled ‘incredible’ per Sports World Ghana, would’ve competed with Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy for the right-wing spot – so his opportunities may have been limited, anyhow.
Newcastle should go back in for Anthony Elanga
Newcastle should return with another bid for Nottingham Forest wide player Anthony Elanga in the winter transfer window.
Clearly, he’s admired by Howe and aged just 22, there’s still plenty of time to develop before reaching his peak.
Plus, Elanga can operate on either flank, so he’d provide great depth, too.
