'In these last few hours': Italian journalist has just shared transfer update on Bastoni amid Spurs links

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on bringing Ivan Perisic to N17.

And he may not be the only Inter player Spurs could get their hands on this summer.

Tottenham have also been heavily linked with Alessandro Bastoni in recent weeks.

Now, Tuttomercatoweb – via Sport Witness – has provided further updates on Spurs’ pursuit of the 23-year-old.

There are two articles in question which refer to Tottenham and Bastoni today.

The first claims Tottenham could swoop in for the Italy international ‘any time’.

His sale to Antonio Conte’s side would let Inter’s ‘coffers breathe’.

In turn, the Nerazzurri could ‘make a capital gain’ and also reinvest to bolster their ranks for next season.

The second, written by Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini this afternoon, goes into further detail.

Ceccarini claims that ‘in the last few hours’, there have been movements from the Premier League for Bastoni.

He added that ‘Tottenham are pursuing him strongly’ and that Conte ‘would be happy’ to sign him.

However, Spurs are reportedly worried over how much it would cost to sign the player.

For Tottenham, ‘the problem remains’ around Bastoni’s purported 60-70m euro price tag (£51m-£60m).

That said, Spurs have just received a £150m cash injection from ENIC, so it’s not like they cannot afford him.

Could Bastoni have Van Dijk impact on Tottenham?

However, Conte and Fabio Paratici will need to think about how to invest that money wisely for several players.

If Tottenham decide to move for Bastoni, he’d be pricey but it’d certainly be worth it.

Bastoni is incredibly talented, established at the highest level, can develop much more, and plays on the left-hand side.

Furthermore, Conte and Bastoni worked together at Inter, the defender deeming his former boss ‘phenomenal‘.

Bastoni already has a Serie A title, an Italian Super Cup and a Euro 2020 winner’s medal.

Who knows, he could become Tottenham’s own Virgil van Dijk in terms of instantly bolstering the defence.
