‘In the next hours’: Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle United are just about to launch bid for ‘incredible’ player

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle United are about to launch a bid for Watford striker Joao Pedro.

Reports suggested this week that Newcastle were about £10 million away from the Hornets’ valuation of the ‘incredible’ Pedro. 

But now it seems that Eddie Howe is ready to ramp up his interest in the player.

The 20-year-old has got off to a decent start in the Championship this season as he’s already grabbed a goal and an assist.

Pedro also put in some eye-catching performances for the Hornets in the Premier League last season but couldn’t prevent the club from being relegated.

And with Howe looking to bolster his attacking options, he is now seemingly aiming to bring the Brazilian to St James’ Park this summer.

Newcastle about to launch bid for Pedro

Fabrizio Romano reports that Newcastle are now preparing a new bid for Pedro after their opening offer was turned down by Watford.

The Magpies are ready to push to sign the player this summer and could submit their new offer in the next few hours.

Pedro is said to be keen on the move but the Hornets have a decision to make as Ismaila Sarr could also join Crystal Palace.

Eddie Howe has been in the market for a striker this summer and missed out on Hugo Ekitike to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the window.

The Magpies have shown interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja but the striker’s future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear at the moment. 

And now it seems that Howe is pushing to sign Pedro as he aims to provide competition for Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.

At just 20, Pedro has shown real glimpses of quality at Watford and could play across the front-three for Howe’s men.

The Brazilian has not been prolific for the Championship side but has shown he is capable of stepping up and playing in the Premier League.

If Newcastle manage to get this deal over the line, it would go a long way to providing depth and quality to their attacking options.
