'I'm told': Arsenal are going to have to pay £60m if they want to sign 'incredible' player in January - journalist

Arsenal are going to have to pay around £60 million if they want to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk in January, according to journalist Dean Jones

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Mudryk over the summer and speculation has been heating up over a possible move in the upcoming transfer window.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to bolster his attacking options after missing out on Raphinha to Barcelona in the last window.

Arsenal are lacking quality depth in the wide areas and if either Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli picked up an injury, Arteta would be left short.

Fabrizio Romano claimed this week that Mudryk is Arsenal’s priority but they’ll seemingly have to pay big to land the ‘incredible’ attacker

Arsenal have to pay £60m to sign Mudryk

Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that reports suggesting Arsenal could land Mudryk for a cut-price deal are wide of the mark.

“There’s no reason for that to happen and I’m told it’s probably not true,” he said.

“But even if it was around £60 million, I still think this deal would hold good value.”

Mudryk has been outstanding for Shakhtar this season and is quickly becoming one of the most exciting prospects in Europe.

The 21-year-old particularly impressed for the Ukrainian outfit in the Champions League as he bagged three goals and two assists during the group stages.

TBR View: Mudryk would be worth the fee

Arsenal were seemingly willing to pay big for Raphinha over the summer, despite already having Saka and Martinelli in the side.

If the Gunners are going to maintain their push for the Premier League title, they’ll need to add more quality depth to the squad in January.

Mudryk has proven he can perform against Europe’s top club in the Champions League and he would be a brilliant addition to Arteta’s squad.

The Ukrainian star would push for a starting role at Arsenal and provide Arteta with a brilliant option out wide.
