'I'm no big fan': Dietmar Hamann tells Liverpool player to 'keep it quiet' after what he did last night

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has criticised a tweet by Mo Salah after Real Madrid made the Champions League final.

Salah of course has history with Madrid in this competition, having been forced off by injury in the first half of the 2018 final against the same opponents.

Liverpool went on to win the famous trophy the following season and they have the chance to get their hands on it again in Paris on 28 May.

After Liverpool’s semi-final win over Villarreal, Salah said he wanted to play against Madrid again and now he has explicitly said he has a score to settle.

Hamann criticises Salah tweet

Salah tweeted after Madrid’s victory over Manchester City but that has drawn criticism from Hamann speaking on Sky Sports.

“I saw the tweet and I’m no big fan of it, I’ve got to say,” he said.

“What happened that day, I’m not sure whether Ramos’ intention was to injure him. It was unfortunate that he had to come off. I always prefer when players keep it quiet, they can talk after the game.

“I can understand where he’s coming from, he said after the Villarreal game that he’d rather play Madrid than City. he’s got it now, let’s hope he has a cool head.”

Salah’s future has been a talking point all season long but it seems that there will be no further developments on that score until the end of the campaign.

Madrid are one of the traditional powerhouses you might expect to be bidding for players at the very top of their game.

But they seem distracted with Kylian Mbappe and Salah has suggested his feelings towards the club, in any case.

Hamann is right to an extent; it seems wiser to wait after the game and talk about settling a score if that is indeed what Liverpool do.

But Liverpool are flying right now and it is not as if what Salah posts online will give Madrid motivation. They have a squad of experienced professionals with great history in the Champions League, who need no extra drive.
